Chapter President: Douglas McNiven
Area of Interests
The Northwest Territories Chapter was formed in 2000 by Dough McNiven and Grant Baker. With the tremendous number of hectares of aquatic resources in the NWT, the list of potential projects is long. Although based in Yellowknife, projects in other parts of the NWT are not out of reach.
In cooperation with Government of the Northwest Territories, the Chapter installed “Working to Protect Your Water Resources” signs along the Ingraham Trail which is the main access to many outdoor recreational sites near Yellowknife. In 2007, the NWT Chapter adopted a local fishing area within the City of Yellowknife. Members have also been involved in litter clean-ups at Kam Lake and other fishing
areas. The NWT Chapter has worked with Northwest Territories Tourism and the City of Yellowknife and have taken part in events in conjunction with the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
