Do good, feel good and get moving!
Presented by Plastic-Free YYC in partnership with Boomerang Bags YYC, Calgary Climate Action Network and Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association
‘Plogging’ is a new Swedish running trend storming the world. The word comes from mixing ‘jogging’ and ‘plocka upp’; the Swedish words for ‘pick up’. In this case, litter! Plogging is fun, healthy and good for the environment.
On May 6, 2018 join us for a Plog! You can run/jog/walk while we clean up our beautiful city along the Bow river pathways. Invite your friends and family, bring your dog or come solo and meet new friends. Everyone is welcome and the event is free.
Meet at 10:45am at the St. Patrick’s Island parking lot. We will set off along the river pathways, walking or jogging and picking up litter as we go. Covering approx. 4.2 km (about a 50min walk), ending at Poppy Plaza where you will have the opportunity to visit an Ecofair. At noon we will all convene at the Memorial sign for a group photo with our trash bags! We will then sort the rubbish into recycling/general bin. That is it! More information about the Ecofair is forthcoming.
What will you need?
Please make sure that you bring the following equipment as we will not have spares.
1. Jogging/walking kit (water, clothing, bag, snacks)
2. Gloves (any old pair of gloves will do, including gardening gloves!)
3. A bag for collecting litter
**Please note: we are gathering in a public space therefore individuals must adhere to City of Calgary Park rules, found here. All individuals joining are inherently responsible for themselves, their children, and pets.
