Watersheds are part of Canada’s natural infrastructure, delivering numerous benefits to all Canadians including clean, cold water, biodiversity and economic resources. Since our formation in 1972, Trout Unlimited Canada has developed national expertise in watershed, river and stream restoration. Our mission, “To conserve, protect and restore Canada's freshwater ecosystems and their coldwater resources for present and future generations” provides the basis of our fundamental approach to help ensure clean, cold water across the country. Clean cold water is the ultimate product of a healthy watershed, benefiting both natural aquatic life and people for today and for the future.

Trout Unlimited Canada is a national, not-for-profit, charitable conservation organization. Our volunteer based organization, guided by a small professional staff, provides the best science available for the on-the-ground restoration work through our 34 chapters and over 4,000 members across Canada. TUC prides itself on its ability to work with partners and local communities to deliver sound hands on conservation based ground work.

In 2008 TUC introduced a watershed renewal policy aimed at providing focused coldwater conservation to six selected waters of which four; River Philip (Nova Scotia), Bronte Creek (Ontario), Drywood Creek (Alberta) and Nile Creek-Qualicum Bay (British Columbia) have been launched. These focused projects, part of TUC’s new National Conservation Agenda are only part of the many projects and activities undertaken by TUC and its members.
