A 2008 CCFUND PROJECT

GRAND RIVER PIT TAG FEASIBILITY STUDY (ON) - SPEED VALLEY CHAPTER

This project was developed to aid in the assessment of effectiveness of major habitat improvement projects on Ontario's Grand River. Large scale rehabilitation has been scheduled for the area started in 2008 and will likely proceed with one project per year over the next eight years. These projects sites need to be monitored for their effectiveness in:

a) Long-term structural stability

b) Directly providing habitat to aquatic organisms

c) Increasing habitat heterogeneity through the planed changes in hydraulics and therefore sediment transport.

This PIT Tag Feasibility Study is one component of a larger scale monitoring plan.
