The purpose of this CCF project involved the studying and understanding the flow and habitat characteristics of thermal refuges so that management practices can effectively protect the ecological functions of this distinct environment. The study focused on understanding the role groundwater discharge has on a stream’s thermal environment.

This CCF project included the development of new field methodologies to detect and scope the quality and distributional characteristics of important groundwater discharge zones. These methodologies may be found to be useful tools for monitoring other local streams.
